The borders were such an odd place to find the Alpha herself. She would most likely only come when she was summoned by another canine who wished to join her. But, not today. Toady, she was admiring this place. From on top of the plains, she could see everything from it's hilly surface. Standing at the top, she could look down and see far beyond her territory into the town she used to call home. Home. What a strange name to call that town. A large sigh escaped the Shepherd as she lowered herself into a sitting position. The woods were her home now, and soon she would have a pack to share it with. If the police department didn't want her anymore, well that was just fine, she would make her home out here, while loving every single second of it.
A part of her did miss it though. Lumbering beside a masters side. Or more so having something, someone to protect. Having a purpose in life. Right now she was just a dog without an owner or companion. She was almost sure that her 'new' master was out looking for her, but she would never find her. This dog wouldn't allow it. Looking back on the town was making her chest ache and she turned away - just in time to catch a rabbit that was trying to sneak by. Pushing her paws into a sprint, she caught it quickly, the warm smell of blood filing her nostrils. She barked her triumph and then settled down to eat. Serenity had adapted to the ways of the wild extremely quickly, using the technique of taking down enemies to catch her food and fight her battles of territory.
She was rather pleased with the way she had turned out. And even if she was the only one to be proud of herself, well she was just fine with that.

Run girly, Run.
Run she shall. She kept the strange scents of the burning and human creatures to her back while running. Whatever was that way she wanted to keep away from as best she could. Instead she moved towards the hills and contry, open and free. Maybe find some food to eat, or, hey, a friend. . . Yea food first perhaps. Friends aren't easy to find out here that quickly, though she knew she would find one. They were out there, just. . . Waiting.
Water, need water.
Thirsty was a good way to discribe how she felt at the moment. Thirsty. Not tired, a bit hungry, but thirsty mostly. Sniffing the air quickly she found a cool scent that was instantly gratifying. Water, close but not too close. Diverting her path she jumps over a few logs as she slows her paws to a light jog before stopping beside a stream. Lowering her muzzle to the water she sniffs once. Finding no strange scents she begins to lap it up quickly into her thirsty mouth. She could feel the first gulp rush into her stomach, the second and third blended in with that feeling.
Blood. . .
Pausing, and lifting her head she sniffed again. Yep. Yep that was it; Blood. It rose and danced through the air to her nose like an old friend. Most likely a small animal or rodent given the setting, but what killed it? Canine or was it bird of prey? Hawk or Hound? She sniffs at the air once more, and begins to leisurely trot towards the scent. She wasn't about to run and find, low and behold, it was just a mouse that hit its head to hard or something.
Canine.
Another scent danced its way into her nose, this time a bit different. It was canine, yea, but she didn't know what canine. A bit of brush was before her so she paused, and lowered to her hunches. With the grace of a trained preditory she inched forwards until she could see what was before her. Her eyes glinted once in the sun at this time before she identified it as a dog. Domesticated; or one of the many common breds of such. An involuntary snicker echoed from her throat in both a growl and amusement before stepping out into plain sight.
"Whadda we got here? Big ol' fuzz ball lost?"

The large Shepherd was so lost in her own mind that she didn't notice the other canines scent until the wind blew it straight into her nostrils. Instantly, the dog was on her paws, spinning around and turning on the spotted creature before it lumbered out of the cover it was so carefully hiding in. Her hackles were raised and her lips curled into a threatening snarl. The canine was now recognizable as a hyena. She had never encountered one, as this wasn't their natural habitat and they were pack animals. She had seen them on the magical box that her masters used to watch. They liked the plain-like areas, full of sand, where the giant cats roamed. This was no home for a hyena - nor for any canine who was just here to trespass on Serenity's newly claimed land. Her stance quickly took on a dominant appearance. Though she was a quite a bit smaller than the broad shouldered hyena she was not the least bit intimidated by it. This was her land and she was determined to fight for it until her last breaths were released from her body. "Whadda we got here? Big ol' fuzz ball lost?" Without a second passing by, the German Shepherd lunged forward, teeth just missing the hyena's snout and a deep, aggressive growl rumbling loud and quick from her throat. "Don't come onto my territory like you own the place - spatting out your petty insults." The dog snarled, keeping her muzzle lose the other canines face before she took two steps back. "Can't you read scent markers? This land is taken. Now leave before I send you out of here with your tail tucked between your legs." Another threatening snarl and she began to circle the hyena, tail curled into a large arch and her tongue running over her white fangs.
When she got close to the hyena's flank, she gave it a sharp nip, not enough to hurt too much, but enough to startle her. "Unless that is..." She began, her warm breath close enough to ruffle the hyena's fur. "You want to join my pack...You have started yourself off on the wrong paw..." She threatened, her voice a deep, taunting snarl. That's her.
That's HER? She expected more sure, but the canine before her could be a worthy opponent should push come to shove. But she didn't plan to die. "Don't come onto my territory like you own the place - spatting out your petty insults." Petty insults, heh, hehhhh. . . Oh she was just holding back the laugh. That wasn't an insult, it was an observation. The Shepard had more fur than she ever would have. As such, She literally WAS a ball of fur to the hyena. She didn't know what to call that dog breed really- Furball had fit.
Still, Muscles tense.
The dog was in her face in a matter of seconds. She was ready for that, and remained in her original position. Her muscles had tensed greatly, but her years of life had brought many people in her face. By now, it was just the norm for her way of speaking. Her eyes had locked on the Shepards, but she had no glare in them, nor amusement. She was just watching. "Can't you read scent markers? This land is taken. Now leave before I send you out of here with your tail tucked between your legs." She waited. This dog was alone, that much was sure. Unless this alpha has that much hubris - Which Serlina could see - to come to a border alone with no guards or accompanies, she would be with someone. She would need her work, just needed to wait. .
Out of sight, out of sight. . .
She turned her head to follow, but her ears flicked behind her to listen to the movements. A sudden movement next to her flank caused her to step away quickly and turn to face the Shepard with a strange look of insanity and amusement. "Unless that is..." The other dog was close enough that her fur moved slightly, which only caused her look to grow. "You want to join my pack...You have started yourself off on the wrong paw..."
Speak, Speak now.
She spoke, quick and full of her usual spunk. "Yep. Didn't want to set your expectations too high now, should I?" She snicker, a soft hyena laugh eminating from her throat. "But yes, I do want to join, And based on the fact that your alone, You could use members. Or you're just one of the most confident canines I've seen." She looks the alpha over before nodding. "And one of the most direct. I like that. And I would like to join your pack. What do I have to do to prove that, yes while I do back talk, I work hard."

While this hyena seemed to be sassy and quite an annoying little mutt, Serenity had to admit, she liked the spunk her. Ears twitching, she stepped back to the front of the hyena, flicking her ears as she pondered on the words that she was barking about. So this strange African homed canine did want to join her pack. Serenity had known the specie to be quite good hunters as well as fighters. They were pack animals, just like dogs, as they were all canines, so why not stick together? Her pinned ears lifted to a more dominant stance, but she was more relaxed now. "You are welcome here if you can prove you are worth my time. Yes, I am just now starting a pack, and if confident is what you want to call it, well than fine. But, I claimed this territory single pawed and I won't give it up without a fight." Another swivel of her ears."You need to show me how well you can hunt and fight. But we can take it one day at a time. You should know, the one thing I consider even more valuable than hunting and fighting is loyalty. If you are to be in my pack, I expect you know where your loyalties lie and where your ranks will take you in our hierarchy." She paused, allowing this hyena to take in what she had said so far. A small breath and she once again continued, her large chocolate colored eyes brooding into the hyenas. "It will be run with the traditional hierarchy, much like a wolf pack. Alpha, Beta, Deltas in charge with healers just below them. Warriors, Hunters, Scouts, and Guardians all will have a lead and will be equal in the rank. Though warriors are head and will be submitted to by hunters and scouts. And Scouts to hunters, and so on. The Apprentices, Pups, and Omegas will be the lowest. Yet, pups and apprentices can work up in the ranks as Omegas must earn it or fight to move up. Any questions? Oh, your name too please."Another pause and the twitch of her ears. "Okay, Serlina, I am Serenity. I will be the Alpha female and head in charge until more canines come along. We accept all kinds of canines, mixed, small, large, or exotic. And all are judged by ranks. Which will be earned. For now you will be an Omega until you have proven what you know to me. Understood?" Her ears lowered, her aggression mostly gone but her body was still a bit tense and ready for a surprising blow from the hyena. It was always better safe than sorry.Words: 449 Tags: BlueFire Notes: just listing my color code here. #9419e6 TEMPLATE BY ELIZA @ Delusional & SP
